Gene studied medical and biological illustration at New Jersey’s Fairleigh Dickinson University and then studied painting and sculpture while attending State University New York at Cortland. He first began working in the construction industry when he was 14 years old, spending summers at the construction company operated by his four uncles. He has worked in the trade ever since. His expertise is in high-end woodworking, and he loves the medium of wood as it blends functionality with aesthetics. He brings with him a positive attitude to create an enjoyable experience for all and particularly relishes the mentoring process.

Gene also loves plein air painting, crafting furniture, and fly fishing. He has two grown sons and lives in Durham where he is currently designing his own home.
