The “sit in like a chair” up to your neck soaking tub was the top request for the lady of the house. For safety, a grab bar was installed on the deck beside the tub, and the removable step stool locks in place with a draw clamp.

This Japanese inspired award-winning master bath is part of a large addition to a traditional, circa 1965, Royal Barry Wills’ home.

The clients lived in Japan for several years and developed an appreciation for the Japanese aesthetic and lifestyle. Upon returning to the States, they brought artwork and authentic antiques they wanted to include in the design for the addition to their home.

Additional highlights of the design include the unusual use of two individual ceramic tops with integrated sinks to form a single large vanity area. The 12″ x 24″ rectangular floor tile was set on the diagonal and the porcelain tile surface is a subtle woven texture.

Handcrafted glass accent tiles at the sinks, tub deck and shower walls incorporate 24-karat gold leaf, complementing the brilliant gold-tone hardware and fittings.
