Design Operations Leader, Architecture, Licensed Architect, ME

As both a project Architect and the Architecture Department’s Operations Leader, Sue’s dual role involves wearing many hats. When working with clients, Sue guides them through the process of turning their vision into a design. Responsible for all facets of a project from concepts through construction, including projects of all sizes and budgets, her experience includes coastal homes, historic renovations, community and religious facilities, inns, and many variations of barns from artist studios to working equine facilities.

With the growth of the Knickerbocker Group design team, since 2022 Sue has also taken on the additional role of managing the teams themselves.  This includes assigning the project teams along with other staffing-related logistics to help the department operate efficiently and effectively. She also supplements larger project teams acting as a conduit between design and construction.

Sue’s work has been featured in many notable publications, including her own barn-style home was featured in Maine Home+Design. Dedicated to the continued excellence of Knickerbocker Group, Sue is an active participant in our ESOP Communications Committee which serves to keep the employee owners informed and involved.

KG culture, mission + values

Sue appreciates that Knickerbocker Group makes every project a collaborative effort for everyone involved—from the client to our crew. When everyone has the same common goal, the challenges that will certainly arise can be addressed productively and the final product will be something that makes everyone proud. The KG staff similarly works in harmony to maintain our high level of quality and ensure successful products and experiences.  Becoming an ESOP only accentuated this philosophy.
