The Honeymoon Cottage Recognized for Design Excellence

2025

Celebrating a deep connection to place

The Honeymoon Cottage, designed and constructed by Knickerbocker Group, was awarded a prestigious Merit Award for Excellence in Architecture at the 2025 AIA New England Architecture Awards.

Each year, the AIA New England Architecture Awards recognize outstanding architectural projects and firms. A jury of nationally recognized peers carefully reviews and critiques entries to select the most outstanding projects for recognition. Organized and hosted by AIA New Hampshire, this year’s awards recognized individuals and organizations for their exceptional achievements in advancing the profession of architecture. Winners are selected for their creativity, context, sustainability, and design excellence.

Jurors admired the home’s “excellent and imaginative use of space” and noted the project shows how “small-scale architecture can achieve outsized impact—efficient, sustainable, and deeply connected to place.” They also appreciated that “material choices reinforce this balance of refinement and restraint…” while “custom details; from floating fireplaces to finely crafted millwork; add to the sense of care and craftsmanship.”

A collaboration rooted in excellence

Please join us in congratulating the entire team—design, construction, and project management for their vision and execution! Additional recognition to Carson Douglas Landscape Architecture for the landscape architecture and Albert Putnam Associates for their role in the structural engineering. As the fifth project we have completed for these valued, repeat clients, the project highlights our commitment to fostering relationships and projects that stand the test of time.
