Julien grew up in rural New Hampshire, with a father who is a self-taught architect and builder. His interest in design and construction was sparked at an early age, helping his dad with light wood framing, finish carpentry, and electrical work at his childhood home. After attending Northeastern University and receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture in 2011, Julien took his knowledge of woodworking and new architectural education to pursue furniture building as a hobby, which he grew to love. After working in the field for a few years, he returned to Northeastern for his Master of Architecture degree in 2014 – 2015, in order to pursue his architectural license.
Julien’s past professional experience includes high-end restaurant, institutional (higher education), and high-end residential design. His true passion lies in residential design and construction, and he is very excited to be a part of the Knickerbocker team.
Julien currently lives on Barters Island with his wife Sarah, and new son James. They relocated after living in the Boston area for 10+ years, and are excited to explore all that the Maine coast has to offer.
